Sonepur, (େସାନ ପୁର) ,the district head quarter of Sonepur or Suvarnapur District, one of the most beautiful places in Eastern Odisha. A district full of beautifully rock cut temples and several other scenic landscapes. A place good for watching Mahanadi flowing with a her womanly grace.
A blend of Tel , Ong and Mahanadi always gives the viewer a perfect pleasure.

Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census, Sonepur had a population of 17,535. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Sonepur has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 65%. In Sonepur, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
